Blackboard was selected contingent upon:
- Resolution of the chat problem
- Confirmation of ease of scalability and of authentication–what is in the database, and what is not
- Willingness to share their API
- Determination of consulting costs–acceptable resolution
- A prompt response to remaining questions
WebCT constraints
- For this tool to be used, advertisements must be eliminated
- Authentication and real-time updating issues could also make this product unfeasible.
- When comparing costs, the group must weigh local costs against consulting cost.
