The new version of Blackboard, version 5.0.2, will improve and alter certain aspects of the courseware's functionality.
Course Listings Page
- Courses are now displayed in alphabetical order
- TA's, Graders, and Course Builders are included in the "Courses In Which Your Are Enrolled."
Announcements
- A hyperlink can easily be added to an announcement by typing in the URL (no HTML required) with the Smart Text option selected.
Gradebook
- Gradebook is now alphabetized and includes usernames as well to reduce confusion with students with the same name.
- Gradebook columns can now be arranged by date added, name, or type.
Communication Tools
- Each communication tool can be disabled individually.
- In addition, the instructor has the ability to disable the automatic archiving of Virtual Classroom sessions. To modify communication tools, the instructor or TA clicks on Control Panel > Course Settings > Area Availability , scrolls down to communications area, and then selects which tools are to be disabled.
Send e-mail
- Select Users now displays users in alphabetical order.
- Select Groups now displays groups properly.
Discussion Boards
- The correction to give full authority to TA's to add forums and remove messages does not work correctly yet. Only instructors can add forums and remove messages at this point.
