How do I archive my course site?

If you are an instructor, archive your course site regularly and keep those archives as backups.

To back up your site, do the following:

  1. Run Blackboard, log in, and open your course.
  2. Open the Control Panel and select Archive Course under Course Options.
  3. Make sure the correct course is listed and click Submit.

This creates an archive copy in .zip format, which you should keep in a safe place.

The Blackboard server is backed up regularly to allow restoration of all courses in the event of a catastrophic failure. However, backups to an individual site are much harder and much more time-consuming to do. Thus, if you or one of your TA's accidentally destroys part of your site, you are responsible for having a copy of your data. The system administrator will have to help you restore the data from your archive.
