- Creating opportunities for active, constructive and authentic learning improves students' comprehension, retention of knowledge and satisfaction with the learning experience (Jonassen et. al, 1999).
- Associating new materials to ideas students already understand enables students to extend their knowledge and enhances their ability to absorb the new information (Eggen & Kauchak, 2001).
