Tips

  • Self-directed learning increases learner control and promotes student planning, managing, and organizing course materials (Brockett & Hiemstra, 1991; Candy, 1991; Caffarella, 1993).

Example: The instructor records and uploads audio files of classes and review sessions.

    Advantages of Audio files:

    • Students who need to make up a class or miss the review session can access them later.

    • Listening reinforces learning

    • It’s also helpful for international students

    • Teacher accountability
