Dear Instructors,
As you may be aware, there have been intermittent slowdowns in logging into some of the Blackboard servers this week. This new version of Blackboard is running on new servers with more than twice the speed and capacity of the former system. Throughout the spring semester, faculty along with ITS and DIIA staff tested the new version with great results. The summer semester started smoothly with the new system with no significant problems.
ITS staff have been on the phone with Blackboard, Inc. daily. Several rounds of tuning adjustments have been made, all to the good. Although Blackboard consistency and performance are improving, more adjustments may be needed.
To help us tune Blackboard, we would appreciate any information you can provide about significant changes in your use of Blackboard since the spring. We are also working with Blackboard to improve the performance of the new Test Manager module. ITS will continue to fine-tune the system to provide the most efficient service to you and your students. We are making every effort to resolve the problems and are grateful for your help and patience.
ITS and DIIA
