Training sessions usually take place in the DIIA Multimedia Lab (GSB 2.130) or the Libraries' Electronic Classroom (FAC 101-B). Call Carolyn Thomas at (512) 232-1770 to arrange an appointment or register for a training session. NOTE: A UT-EID is required to access Blackboard server.

We have scheduled Road Shows around campus to alert instructors about new Blackboard features that will be available for classes this summer.

We have recently reorganized our classes so that each class is targeted for a specific purpose within Blackboard. Please register for any of the classes that interest you.

Blackboard: What's New

Come to this session to learn about the new features that are available in Blackboard 7.2. These features include added options in the announcement, quizzing, email, and gradebook areas along with a completely new discussion board. In addition, new features have been added through Blackboard's Building Blocks program. These features include:

* Office Hours Appointment Scheduler
* Scanning Services' Grades Upload
* Podcasting
* Scholar social bookmarking tool
* Final Grades Submission system

Blackboard: Getting Started with your Course Content

Blackboard enables educators to enhance in-class instruction by providing 24/7 access to course materials along with a variety of tools that can assist instructors with the management of their courses. In this hands-on session, you will learn how to build a Blackboard course site by uploading course documents, organizing material, and applying course designs to your site.

In this session we will discuss:
* Adding files to a course site
* Managing material using folders
* Adding web resources to a course site
* Using Adaptive Release
* Customizing a course menu
* Applying unique design to a course site
* Managing students and Teaching Assistants

Please bring any content with you to be added to your course sites. Content can be in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, HTML format. Additionally, content can be in other formats if students have access to that software.

Blackboard: Enhancing Communication

This hands-on session will focus on the effective uses of Blackboard's communication tools to connect instructors with students outside the classroom. We will discuss how to use, facilitate, and manage these tools to elevate class communication online.

* Groups

Blackboard: Increasing Assessment and Feedback

This hands-on session will teach you how to use Blackboard's assessment features to evaluate student learning and to gain valuable feedback from your students. We will demonstrate the process of creating quizzes/surveys, using the gradebook, and collecting assignments through Blackboard.
