Managing your Course Menu
blackboard > tutorials > managing your course menu
When you enter your Blackboard course you are presented with a list of links in the navigation menu on the left side of the page. Instructors can modify these links by changing the link names or eliminating unused links. Instructors have the option to include up to 10 different areas for each course.
The Course Menu may contain any of the following types of links:
- Folders that hold course information such as Course Documents or Announcements
- Specific items such as a course syllabus
- External Links which link to URL's outside of the course
- Course Links which link to other areas within the course
In this tutorial you will learn how to navigate to the Mange Course Menu area, and how to add, modify, and remove menu items.
1. In the Control Panel area, under Course Options, click on Manage Course Menu.
2. On the Manage Course Menu page, you can Add, Modify, and Remove menu items. Note: If you Remove a Content Area, it is removed from the Course Menu and the Course Control Panel, and all of its contents are deleted.
3. There are four different area types you can add. Each area type presents several different options:
| Content Area | Tool Links | Course Links | External Links |
|---|---|---|---|
|
|
Which allows you to directly link any document within your course to your course menu. | Which allows you to directly link to any Website from your course menu. |
4. You can change the order of your menu items by using the numbered drop down menu next to the name.
