| Title:
Mexican Workers and Their Texas Environments, 1890-1950
Faculty Client:

Student Developer(s):

Project Description:
Students can read about the harsh working and living conditions
of the Mexican American workers, but they gain a better understanding
when they gaze into the eyes of a black, coal-coated, face of a
preteen. However, primary resources like photographs of Mexican
American Workers from 1890 – 1950 are very rare. When images
of the workers are found, they are usually unorganized and kept
in archives as footnotes spread across the United States. This project
created an online database of primary visual resources so students
can create photo-essays to compare and contrast, demonstrate, infer,
synthesize and interpret meaning based on the images of Mexican
workers they select.
