Title:
Developmental Writing/Reading Instructional Technology Project

Faculty Client:
Sarah Johnson, sarahgail@mail.utexas.edu

Student Developer:
Aditya Kesiraju

Project Description:
This project improves student learning through online instructional modules of two 9 week curriculum modules that not only prepare students for the state-mandated THEA exam, but provide students with intensive, individualized reading and writing instruction designed to foster a successful transition to college-level writing in RHE 306 and other writing intensive courses.

Other features are online consultant/student interactive journals, a self-assessment component, and optional enrichment activities and readings for students who wish to exceed the scope, depth, or skill level of the tutorial. Students are also provided with online resources related to their individual homework assignments rather than being limited to the materials, space and time constraints of the Writing/Reading lab.

Title:
Online Math Instructional Project

Faculty Client:
Maria Pratt, gpratt@mail.utexas.edu

Student Developer:
Xiaoyu Zhou

Project Description:
Developmental students who are enrolled in the DEV000M courses visit the Math/Science Drop-In Center several times each semester. The high student volume created a situation where everyone would be better served if students had access to preparation materials prior to visiting the center, in order to make the best use of their time at the center. The main focus of this project was to improve student instruction through effective online instructional modules relating to individual homework assignments. This is phase two of a three part project, consisting of online lecture notes for Algebra 2 and Geometry, practice problems and test, as well as audio and visual instructional materials.

Title:
UT Teaching Teams Program Website

Faculty Client:
Rachel Zierzow, zierzow@mail.utexas.edu

Student Developer:
Paromita Roy

Project Description:
The UT Teaching Teams Program aims to bridge the gap between faculty expectations and student readiness in large classes by creating course-specific learning communities, or teaching teams. To help grow the Teaching Teams Program, this project created a Web site containing information for faculty and students about how to succeed in the program. The site also contains online study-strategy modules, discussion boards (using Blackboard), course handouts, program evaluations, and student response journals.
