Title:
Drama in Education Instructional DVD

Faculty Client:
Sharon Grady, sgrady@uts.cc.utexas.edu

Student Developer:
Chris Lilly

Project Description:
This project created an instructional DVD for upper division undergraduate and MFA students enrolled in Creative Drama II. In this course, students who have had prior coursework in the use of improvisational drama and role-playing as educational tools are placed in various school and community fieldwork sites throughout the Austin area. These placements allow students to continue to hone their leadership skills as they work with “real” young people in context. However, over the years students have often commented on the need for a handy way to review the techniques they have been exposed to as well as help the teachers and/or administrators they are working with understand what drama-based instruction “looks” like and how it "works." The DVD produced in this project has text, video, and audio that address these concerns.

UT Costume History Image Archive

Faculty Client:
Susan Mickey, msmickey@mail.utexas.edu

Student Developer:
Sarah James

Project Description:
This project developed a digital database of historical costume images with detailed metadata that is accessible to the faculty, staff and students of the University of Texas. Organizing the existing costume history images into a searchable Web page format allows for greater ease of use and encourages a larger user base. The Costume History Image Archive was a collaborative project with LAITS and may be viewed at: http://dase.laits.utexas.edu.

Title:
Introduction to Interactive Voice Lessons

Faculty Client:
Darlene Wiley, dwiley@mail.utexas.edu

Student Developer:
Sanket Borgaonkar

Project Description:
This project modified an existing Web site http://texassings.music.utexas.edu to include new instructional material with five video and aural examples and printed matter. The new material explains and demonstrates interactive tutorials (macros) about basic skill acquisition for beginning singers. The site targets non-major voice students and beginning voice majors on the UT campus as well as prospective voice students in Texas. This new section provides text, aural and visual examples on how to use 85 interactive macros to further basic skill acquisition. The goal of the project is to allow all students to have easy online access to the explanatory material for the tutorials.
