Project Description:
Teaching of highly visual material requires repeated exposure to examples, a highly labor intensive process. This project created a set of Web based tutorials and resources to aid in teaching carbonate petrography–the study of carbonate rocks under a microscope. This tutorial aims to be a “virtual” microscope, with a supportive private instructor, and will consist primarily of 20 to 30 high-resolution photomicrographs that are mapped and annotated using Adobe Acrobat and an Acrobat database so that students may explore and learn to identify salient features in an active learning environment.
