Tech Support Set-Up and Testing

In this tutorial you will learn the procedure to set-up and test receivers in classrooms.

Obtaining Receivers and test pads

1. Instructors who plan to use CPS in their classes are supplied with free start-up kits including a Gen 2 CPS receiver that plugs in to a USB port, a test clicker and an enrollment code. These kits can be obtained from Marty Abrahamson with eInstruction by e-mail at marty@einstruction.com or by phone at 804-642-9131 .

2. Download and install the software on your console machines, including CPS for Power Point. I suggest installing the Mac version as well. The CPS for Power Point version can take the place of the version that has been used to date, but there will be instructors who want to use the original software.

3. Install the reciever in the instructor's classroom by plugging it in to the USB port. It will be recognized by Windows XP. Make sure the channel on the receiver (displayed on the LCD screen) is different from adjacent rooms. Some instructors may want to use their own laptop and receiver instead of the console computer. The channel on their receivers should also be adjusted. This can be done by selecting Settings-->Delivery Options--> and the Receiver tab.

4. The channel number is displayed both in a text box and on the receiver's LCD screen. Changes to the number in the text box will appear on the receiver.
