Test Your CPS System

In this tutorial you will learn how to add a guest "student" EID to your Blackboard class, log into Blackboard as the "student", enroll the student in CPS, and test the student's clicker to confirm that the system is working.


Create a Student EID

1. Get a guest UTEID at http://www.utexas.edu/eid to enroll a test student in your class. Follow the wizard. Select "No" for the first series of questions. Enter a name you will remember and a fictitious birth date and select continue. Complete three password hints and create a password that you will remember. Confirm your entries by selecting "Create EID".


    2. Send the user name to blackboard@austin.utexas.edu. It will be added to Blackboard withing 24 hours.

Add the Student EID into your Blackboard Class

3. Log into Blackboard the next day as the instructor and enroll the guest UTEID in your class. First, Select "Control Panel"


4. Next, enroll the student you created.


5. Log out of your Blackboard instructor account.


Register the student clicker provided by eInstruction.

6. Log back into Blackboard using the EID user Name and password for the student that you created. Then select "Tools" from the menu bar at the left.


7. Select "CPS Connection".


8. Enter the information as required below. You need only enter the serial number if you enrolled the student in CPS in another class for the current semester. Click "Submit" and your clicker will be associated with your guest student.


9. Open CPS and the guest student will be added to your class from the Blackboard server.
