Why Student Self-Reflection is Critical to Inquiry
Portfolios should include both assignments and reflections of some kind.
Requiring students reflect upon their work is essential to put them in the mindframe for an honest back-and-forth discussion about their work.
If you do not require students to reflect, then your relationship with students may never move beyond the polarized right/wrong kind of evaluative relationship.
