Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need to be enrolled at UT during the summer to participate?
No, you do not need to be enrolled in classes during summer. If you are enrolled, we recommend that students take no more than 3 hours per session because this is a substantial weekly time commitment.

Q: Can anyone apply and what are the prerequisites?
You must be a student in good standing and plan to be enrolled at UT for at least two semesters after the summer internship. Students must be proficient with Windows/Mac OSX, MS Office, file transfer, internet searching, and email.

Q: What happens after the internship?
Upon successful completion of the internship, you will have the opportunity for continued summer employment and assignment to projects with DIIA's ~FAST-Tex and/or Digital Media Services programs. Continued employment and project assignments are based on your skills, experience, interests, and overall progress in the program.

Q: What are the program dates and schedule?
The 2010 Program will be June 1 through July 12. Students are expected to work 20 hours each week, between the hours of 9am-5pm, M-F. Look in the Schedule section for a detailed meeting agenda.

Q: What is the stipend and work hours?
Undergraduate students will receive a $1200 stipend to complete the 6-week internship program. Students are expected to work 20 hours a week (which includes mandatory meetings M, T, Th 2-5pm) and follow their assigned work schedule. All work must be completed on-site in the DIIA Multimedia Lab.
