Strand Options

Faculty may choose among several training options for their classes:

  • DMS workshops, scheduled throughout the semester, provide students supplemental instruction outside of class in topics such as introductory video shooting, video editing, and screencasting. Additional topics will be added each semester, including editing with Final Cut Pro, Web design, and Web authoring.
  • Faculty can schedule in-class presentations—lectures, demonstrations, interactive workshops--by a DMS instructor on any digital media topic, such as Project Planning, Digital Storytelling, Storyboarding, Digital Media Concepts, or Creativity.
  • Designed in consultation with DMS staff, custom workshops—delivered in-class or as a supplement, for one class or a department—can provide students hands-on training in particular techniques or applications. A custom workshop may then become a regular DMS or ASPECTS offering.
  • Through course incubation, DMS staff work with faculty to develop digital media assignments and projects integrated into the syllabus. Faculty members attend a pre-semester workshop, attend monthly meetings, and participate in surveys.
  • The ASPECTS program includes DMS workshops customized for GSIs and a DMS certificate series consisting of workshops and a project.
