Assignments

How do I add new assignments to my Assignments page?
Please see the Adding assignments tutorial for more information.
How can I edit the details of an assignment after it has been created?
Please see the Editing assignments tutorial for more information.
How do I view a list of my assignments?
From the eGradebook Home page, which displays a list of your classes, click on the unique number of the class you want to access. You will be taken to the Assignments page.
How do I sort my assignments by date or type?
Click the Sort by Date or Sort by Type button at the bottom of the Assignments page.
How do I view assignments for individual students?
  1. On the Assignments page, click on the name of the assignment in either the left Navigation Menu or under the Rosters column on the main page. This will take you to a page that displays a roster of students for that assignment.
  2. Click on the Student View link for the student whose view you want to view. A new window will pop up and display that student's view of his/her eGradebook for your class.
Why can’t students see an assignment that I have entered?
The Release Date for your assignments determines the date that students will be able to view an assignment and its scores.

See the Editing assignment details tutorial for more information.
How can I provide specific assignment-related information to my class?
You can use the Comments feature to communicate with your students. You can post comments at three different levels: on the home page for everyone to read, at the level of an assignment for everyone to read, or at the level of a specific student’s assignment.

For more information, please visit the Add comments tutorials.
Can I copy my assignments from one class to other classes?
Yes, you can copy assignments to classes in the same or different semesters, as long as you are either the Instructor of record or an authorized Designee. You may not copy assignments within the same semester and unique.

Note
: If you have a Family set up, it is best to copy assignments to the Parent (which will copy to the children), and not to a range that includes the Parent and Children.

For complete steps on how to copy, see the Copy assignments tutorial.

What do I need to know about Extra Credit Assignments?
Students may only earn up to the maximum Points Available toward the total scores, even if higher scores are entered for the Extra Credit item. Extra Credit points will never allow total final scores to go over the total available points for all assignments. Students are not penalized for having zero points for an Extra Credit Assignment.

The calculation of final grades varies depending on how your Preferences are set. If you are calculating grades based on option A, extra credit points are added to the overall point total, and then the final grade is calculated. If you chose option B, extra credit is added as a flat percentage to the final score. For example, if a student has an 88 in the class and received 4 extra credit "points," their calculated grade would be a 92.
