Frequently asked questions
for Instructors and Designees

Miscellaneous questions

What is a Designee and how do I set one up?
A Designee is someone that is given permission to manage an Instructor's eGradebook for a specific unique number. See the Add or delete a designee tutorial for assistance with setting one up.
What browser should I use to work within eGradebook?
Recommended browsers with links to download the latest versions follow:
On a Windows machine (PCs), we recommend:
Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher, Firefox 1.05 or higher, Mozilla 1.7 or higher

On a Macintosh machine, we recommend:
Firefox 1.05 or higher, Mozilla 1.7 or higher, Safari 1.2 or higher.

These can also be downloaded from the Bevoware Web site.

Note: It's not recommended to use IE on Macintosh since it is no longer supported by Microsoft.

I teach multiple sections of the same course and have assigned my TA as a Designee. Why does she have access to only one section?
Your TA must be authorized for each section in which you would like them to be Designee. Adding or removing a Designee to multiple sections at once can be done from the Registrar’s Add or remove a designee page.
How do I submit feature suggestions to the eGradebook development team?
Send an e-mail to egb@utlists.utexas.edu with any suggestions, comments or questions.
What's the difference between eGradebook and the grade book on Blackboard?
The primary distinction between Blackboard and eGradebook is that Blackboard is a course management package whereas eGradebook is only a grade management tool. For more information, please visit our comparison page.
What URL should I provide to my students so that they can view their grades?
Regardless of whether you are a faculty member, TA, or student, the URL for eGradebook is https://utdirect.utexas.edu/diia/egb/ .
How can I, or my TAs, receive training on how to use eGradebook?
You can register for eGradebook training workshops held at our computer lab in GSB. If the listed classes don’t fit your schedule, please send a message to egb@utlists.utexas.edu, and one of our staff will contact you to set up a training date for you, your department, and/or your TAs.
