Scantron forms and scanning services

If I use the Measurement and Evaluation Center's (MEC) Scantron bubble sheets (Scantrons) for tests, how do I get the test results into the eGradebook system?

It is best to create an assignment in eGradebook before you take your Scantron sheets to the MEC's Scanning Services counter. Tell them that you are using eGradebook, the Unique Number of the class, and the assignment name that you created in eGradebook. Once uploaded, all student scores, the answer key (if available), and itemized student answers will automatically be viewable online in eGradebook.
Note
: You can only upload an answer key for your assignment if it is under 100 questions.
What if I have multiple keys and forms for my Scantron tests? Do all these get loaded into the eGradebook?

The total points will automatically be loaded into the eGradebook. However, you will not be able to view multiple keys and forms online. Only the points awarded for each student and the total points available will be viewable in eGradebook. All of the students will be marked as Hand Scored, with an asterisk under the HS column.

How do I manually add or update an answer key?

  1. On the Assignments page, click on the link of the key you want to access in the Update Key column.
  2. Enter or change the Points Available, Number of Questions, and Correct answers. The Relative Weight for each question will automatically be filled in as 1. You may change this if you would like answers to be weighted differently.
  3. Click on the Update button at the bottom of the page.

Note: When you change the answer key for an assignment, the t-score, standard deviation, mean, and rank will be recalculated for each of the students on the roster.

How do I add a score to the roster if one of my students misses a test and needs to take it later?

To add a single student's score, you can either take the Scantron to the MEC's Scanning Services counter to load the results into the eGradebook, or you can manually enter the student's total points directly into the page that displays the roster for the assignment.
What does "Hand Scored" mean?

Hand Scored is indicated if an asterisk appears under the HS column. This means that the total points for a student have been manually entered. If you have used the MEC's Scanning Services and have multiple keys and forms, each student will be marked as Hand Scored. Only the total points will be loaded.
What if I have used the MEC's Scanning Services, have a key and the student results, and then need to change a students total points?
You will need to go into the selected assignment roster in eGradebook and update the total points for this student. Note: If you choose to do this instead of changing your key, this student will have an asterisk under the HS column, to show the item has been Hand Scored. Any future changes to the key will not be reflected in any student scores that have been Hand Scored.
