Glossary
- Assignment
- Anything that a student could receive a grade on. This could include
final tests, quizzes, projects and attendance. The instructor creates
these in egradebook for the purpose of giving grades and other feedback
to students.
- Assignment roster
- This will display a list of your students and the scores for the particular
assignment.
- Child
- When a Family is created, certain actions that
are completed in the Parent will also take place
in any classes designated to be a Child. See the Creating
a Family tutorial for more information.
- Designee
- A person, such as a Teaching Assistant, that is given permission by
an Instructor of record to have access to
eGradebook in a specific class (unique number). Designees can do everything
an instructor of record can do, except assign other Designees and submit
final grades to the registrar. However, Designees can save
grades for the instructor to review and submit.
- Download
- Moving information from the online eGradebook system to a local computer
to be accessed by spreadsheet or another software.
- Due date
- The date that will be displayed within eGradebook with the particular
assignment for the students to see.
- Extra Credit
- A specific type of assignment.
Students may only earn up to the maximum Points Available toward the
total scores, even if higher scores are entered for that item. Extra
Credit points will never allow total final scores to go over the total
available points for all assignments. Students are not penalized for
having zero points for an Extra Credit Assignment.
The calculation of final grades varies depending on how your Preferences are set. If you are calculating grades based on option A, extra credit points are added to the overall point total, and then the final grade is calculated. If you chose option B, extra credit is added as a flat percentage to the final score. (For example, if a student has an 88 in the class and received 4 extra credit points, their calculated grade would be a 92.)
- Family
- A group of classes in which certain actions are carried out simultaneously.
Once unique numbers are grouped into a Family, actions that are performed
in a class designated as a Parent will also be
carried out in any class designated to be a Child
of that family. See the Creating a Family
tutorial for more information.
- HS (Hand scored)
- This field will display an asterisk if the instructor entered the
score by hand. It will not display an asterisk if the scores were based
on a student's answer sheet and an answer key.
- Instructor of record

This is usually determined by a departmental administrator in the mainframe.
This Instructor(s) of record have access to the class and are able to
