Final grade calculation - Option B

Weighting grades and dropping lowest scores

Choose this option if you want to weight grades or drop lowest scores. If you have a simple grading scheme and do not want to drop any lowest scores see the Final grade calculation - Option A Tutorial.

1. Choose a class to work with, then click on the My preferences link in the expanded Navigation Menu.

2. On the Instructor Preferences page, click on the Grade Calculation link.

3. In the FINAL GRADE CALCULATION section, click on the radio button to turn the grades On. Note: When you choose this option, if some assignments have not received grades, on the Download page students may be listed with a grade of "F". Students will not see this grade, however.

4. Click on the (B) radio button to weight grades and drop lowest scores.

5. In the Percent of Total Class Score column, enter the percent that each type of assignment will contribute to the total grade. In the Number of lowest scores to drop column, enter the number of scores to drop.

6. In the Range columns on the right, enter the percent values that will define the range of each letter grade.

7. Scroll down and click the Update Preferences button.

8. A confirmation message reports that the instructor preferences were successfully updated
