IITAP 2002 logo 2004 Judging Considerations for Resource Development

This year, IITAP judges are looking at how applicants answer specific questions about an instructional problem or challenge that they are working on solving, and which specific features of their resource provide students with an innovative or efficient way of gaining knowledge and the skills pertinent to the instructional goals. Applicants should read all entry questions carefully before attempting to answer.

Judges will consider the following when evaluating entries:

  • How well does the resource demonstrate achievement of the stated objectives as articulated by the applicant?
  • How innovative, efficient, and effective is this resource? Was the methodology used to develop this resource unique or innovative?
  • How deep is students’ understanding and appreciation of the subject matter, and how do applicants measure, evaluate, and know the effectiveness of their resource on student learning, knowledge, or skill acquisition?
  • How well do applicants demonstrate concrete outcomes that can be accurately perceived and described? Are claims of advances and benefits well supported by quantitative and/or qualitative data?
  • Technical operation (runs smoothly without crashes or hang-ups, easy to install)
  • User interface design (good navigation, usability; consistent, intuitive, clean, good aesthetics)
  • Quality of media (high-quality graphics, video, sound, animations), if applicable
  • Engagement and interactivity (are students processing information, answering questions, making decisions, building knowledge? How is the learner engaged beyond “page turning” ?)
  • Content presentation (is content clear, readable, well-organized, well-written, rich and deep—supporting linkages and the building of customized knowledge?)
  • Learner modalities accommodated (how many types of media are used to create a rich learning environment? Is appropriate media employed for different learning styles?)
