DIIA "Dancers" Recognized at International Forum for Women in eLearning

Five DIIA members, Susanna Herndon, Shan Evans, Kimberly Christian, Lynn Eaton, and Judy Ashcroft, attended the International Forum for Women in eLearning (IFWE) September 13–16 in Phoenix. The Forum theme was "Dancing on the Glass Ceiling, a Celebration of Women in the Profession." At the conclusion of the forum, which drew more than 100 women from the international distance education community, six participants were selected for special awards by a vote of those present. Two of these awards came home to DIIA.

Dr. Lynn Jones Eaton was awarded the "Rhumba" for the participant who goes with a steady beat, is a little sassy with her dance steps, and keeps her magic present as she leads the dance. Dr. Judy Ashcroft was awarded the "Ballet" because she is always on point for emerging trends and research and demonstrates flexibility, fluidity, strength, and grace in the elearning community. Additionally, Dr. Darcy Hardy of the University of Texas TeleCampus (UT System) received the "Salsa," given to a woman whose high spirited, individualistic approach to her profession makes a statement in the dance hall.

The forum was presented by the United States Distance Learning Association. See the IFWE forum site for more information.
