Summer Orientation Sessions Call for Teamwork

Suzanne Wilson with Student `DIIA staffer Suzanne Wilson, left, works with a student at the advising center in one of the several summer orientation sessions held for incoming freshmen. Measurement and Evaluation’s SOS Team participated in seven orientation sessions this summer, plus a final wrap-up orientation as school begins. The SOS Team, led by Connie Williams, efficiently handled advising, test administration, and test scoring to provide and coordinate needed services for the incoming freshman class.

Each orientation week began with consultation sessions with students to advise them and enroll them for tests they can take for correct placement in foreign language, mathematics, chemistry, and writing classes. A computer proficiency test is also available. Another part of the team then administered the scheduled tests, followed by fast Scantron scoring back at the Measurement and Evaluation Center offices. The group could thus provide students with results quickly and efficiently while they were still on campus.
