~FAST Tex Proposal Deadline October 14, 2005With the October 14 deadline fast approaching, DIIA encourages UT Austin faculty to submit project proposals for the Faculty and Student Teams for Technology (~FAST Tex) 2006 grant season. This innovative incentive program matches tech-savvy students with faculty to build instructional technologies into UT Austin courses. Project manager Suzanne Rhodes suggests that faculty consult the ~FAST Tex Faculty Handbook where the support team has provided complete instructions, proposal review considerations, types of projects supported, and tools for project management to ensure a successful proposal submission. Faculty proposals must satisfy a rigorous ten-point review process to become a working project, and may be awarded up to 600 student developer hours and a completion deadline matching the scope of the project. Rhodes expects to support a maximum of 50 projects in the 2006 season. To get a better idea of the types of projects the program supports, the current year’s ~FAST Tex project descriptions may be found on the DIIA instructional technologies Web site.
