Service and Staff Excellence Award recipients honored at luncheonDIIA staff members were feted at a luncheon May 3 in recognition for service to UT Austin followed by a university-wide event at the Erwin Center. To top off the day’s festivities, the UT Tower was lit in orange with a white top to denote academic and staff achievements. UT Service Awards commemorate length of service to the university, and DIIA congratulates Judy Ashcroft, Mark Decker, Coco Kishi for 10 years, Steve Knoll for 15 years, and Debbie Harris for 25 years of service. The Staff Excellence Award is presented to a select group of UT employees each year for outstanding contributions to the continuing success of the university. Kyung Huh, a member of the Instructional Technology Integration & Development Team, met the rigorous selection criteria. In her introduction, Huh’s supervisor Shan Evans adapted a photograph of a Hummer vehicle that Huh included in his Campus IT Showcase presentation last Thursday entitled “Under the Hood of the Ongoing Course Assessment.” Evans referred to Huh as a “hummer” of an employee, and in an uncharacteristically low-tech application, used whiteout to write Kyung’s name on the window of the Hummer.
