Annual Teaching and Learning Colloquium To Ring In the New YearAt the 2008 Teaching and Learning Colloquium Tuesday and Wednesday, January 8 and 9, an interdisciplinary collection of guest panelists and presenters will focus on the tried and the new in engaging students for active learning. Reflecting the theme of Innovations and Basics for Learning, the two half-day programs include stand-alone sessions on innovations such as the 3D virtual world called Second Life and on basics such as designing good writing assignments and fostering collegiality through peer review. UT Austin faculty may also choose from several hands-on technology workshops January 7-11 in the DIIA Multimedia Lab or FAC 101B, covering Blackboard, Media Console Training, the Classroom Performance System, and Teaching with Wikis.
