Annual IT Showcase to Highlight Tools for Teaching with Technology

On May 28 at the special events room in the College of Business Administration (CBA 3.304), DIIA will host the annual Instructional Technology Showcase, with displays by IT staff from across campus, which are sure to inspire questions, comments, and discussions concerning technology-enhanced teaching and learning.

With its considerable experience in faculty development, assessment, and instructional technology, DIIA is proud to promote this annual end-of-semester, informal gathering of IT innovators to see what’s going on with colleagues, share experiences, and enjoy breakfast tacos. Presenters and participants from throughout the university will share news, project updates, and new tools for innovations spanning the sciences, the humanities, the arts, and the professions.

The lineup of projects and presenters features plenty of heavy hitters.

Apple will showcase applications for iPhone and iPod Touch from various universities. The Learning Technology Center of the College of Education will display tools for creating collaborative Web sites and for administering individual and team tests in support of team-based learning. The Faulty Innovation Center of the College of Engineering will showcase a simulator to illustrate the tradeoffs in electricity generation manipulation.

The Computer Writing and Research Lab will show how it has supported development projects for Web applications in the humanities. Information Technology Services will showcase EUREKA Web services in support of undergraduate research, the John Slatin captioning project, and a curriculum for teaching students the skills of Web professionals. The Texas Language Technology Center will display instructional materials in support of five initiatives: Rockin’ Russian, Brazilpod, Converse Brasileira, Deutsch im Blick, and Français Interactif.

Plan to see it all from 9-11, Thursday, May 28, in CBA 3.304. Join colleagues and special guests as you indulge your curiosity and your appetite at the annual IT Showcase.
