Second Life

Legal considerations

Because Second Life is a mature environment, you should consider the ages of your students before incorporating Second Life as a requirement for your students.  While there is a Teen Second Life available, there are cross-over issues that must be considered regarding adults entering the teen environment.  Therefore, its use might not be appropriate for your course instruction.

All accounts and objects in Second Life are owned by Linden Lab.  Therefore, intellectual property rights are relinquished when users agree to the terms of service at the time of registration.  Additionally, copyright laws are expected to be adhered to by all users as they consider introducing materials into Second Life.

These and other details are explained in the privacy and terms of service agreements published on the Second Life Web site.
