Running Second Life requires a fairly powerful computer.

Software
Download the Second
Life software and install it on your computer.
After you have installed Second Life software, create
your Second Life name and password so you can log in. A free account
can be set up that provides access to the public Second Life world.
Second Life is a constantly improving product, requiring weekly installation
of the newest system application. So it is usually unavailable for logins
on “Black Wednesday” while system maintenance takes place. When
maintenance is finished, you must download and install the latest version
of Second Life.
