2008 Teaching and Learning Colloquium
Stephon Davis Interview
Narrator: Stephon Davis, a senior in the College of Natural Sciences,
shares characteristics of the student-teacher relationship that he enjoys
in large classes.
Davis: I’ve had some instructors that actually
tried to encourage going to office hours. They actually try to encourage
you to come and meet them, because they know that it’s impossible
for them to meet all the students on their own. I think they push more
that the students need to make the effort to come see them. I like the
teachers that aren’t
stand-offish, like they actually try to get you to come in, and they’ll
give you extra office hours, and they’ll send you e-mails and tell
you, “Hey, come meet me!” or “I notice that you were
doing bad,” because some students were scared to go to the teachers,
especially when they start failing.
Narrator: Be sure to attend the 2008
Teaching and Learning Colloquium on January 8 and 9 at the AVAYA auditorium.
