Higher education has its own lexicon of words and expressions.  Many of them are acronyms that have meaning only to frequent users.  These lists present the common terms and expressions used in higher education.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Terms

The National Center for Education Statistics, an arm of the federal government, publishes a directory of terms that it commonly uses, and its definitions for those terms.
