U.S. News & World Report Survey - America's Best Colleges

Each year the University of Texas at Austin Office of Information Management and Analysis completes a three-part survey distributed by U.S. News & World Report, L.P. (USN&WR).  Institutional responses to these surveys, along with other information gathered by USN&WR, are used to produce the USN&WR annual publication America’s Best Colleges where higher education institutions are ranked within institutional categories as defined by USN&WR.  Ranking are based on a formula comprised of many factors; peer assessment, student retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources, graduation rates, and alumni giving, to name a few.

In nine of the past eleven years, the University of Texas at Austin has been ranked among the top 50 national research universities.  In the 2010 edition of America’s Best Colleges UT Austin was ranked 47th nationally among all major research universities and 15th nationally among public research universities.  For more information about this survey, and to review the results of the latest ranking, go to the USN&WR web site at http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges.
