Is there more than one creative writing program at UT?

Yes. MCW offers an interdisciplinary, three-year MFA in Writing, in which students work in two fields chosen from fiction, poetry, playwriting and screenwriting. The Department of English offers a two-year MA in Creative Writing in fiction or poetry. Theatre and Dance offers a three-year MFA in Playwriting, and Radio-TV-Film offers both MA and MFA options in Screenwriting. Request information directly from those departments if you want to apply to their programs.

Can I apply to more than one program?

Yes, and the $50 application fee will cover both applications, but you will need to submit the required materials to both departments and indicate that you are applying to two programs on your GIAC application. If you plan to do this, call us first for more specifics.
