Our MFA candidates have hailed from places as different as western
India and northern Idaho, and their backgrounds and experiences
are equally diverse. Some apply directly from undergraduate programs-mostly
in the humanities, but from fields of study as farranging as
studio art and aerospace engineering. Other candidates come to the
program after several years of work experiencejobs as varied
as ranch hand, ad copywriter, waiter, teacherand return to
writing as a passion they set aside for other careers. Some have
published or produced their work, some have not. We don't seek writers
of a particular aesthetic, and both the students and the faculty
work in many styles, ranging across the experimental and the narratively
traditional. After graduation, a strong network of alumni across
the country keep in contact with one another and with the Center.
We're proud to showcase a few of them here.
