CLEP Open Test Center at UT Austin

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Open Test Center at UT Austin is open to the public. Anyone who wishes to take a CLEP test is welcome to register to take test(s) at our Computer Based Testing Center and have their test scores reported to the institution of their choice. As of July 2001, CLEP has been offered exclusively by computer. For specific test information, refer to the College Board web site. In most cases, you should receive an unofficial score report at the end of your test session. CLEP Policies vary from college to college. Before you register for a CLEP exam, learn which exams your college uses to award credit. UT Austin accepts eight CLEP exams for credit. For admission to the test TWO forms of ID are required.

TEST FEES

There are two separate fees required for CLEP exams:
  • A nonrefundable $15 registration fee for each exam, payable to UT Austin by check or money order when registering, and
  • A $65 ($70.00 effective July 1st) test fee for each exam payable to CLEP by check, money order, or credit card on the day of the test.
  • Optional essay booklet fee. If you are required to take an optional essay, there is an additional essay booklet processing  fee of $10 to be sent along with your registration form and fee. Each booklet takes 2-3 weeks to arrive at our office. You will be registered for a CLEP test only after your essay booklet arrives.

Testing will be offered monthly on the UT Austin campus every second Tuesday except holidays. We cannot accept registration more than one month in advance of a test date.
