UT Austin - Statistical Handbook 2000 - 2001

The Statistical Handbook is designed to provide University administrators and faculty with accurate and consistent information about UT Austin's student, faculty, staff, and financial characteristics. In many cases the information is disaggregated to program or department levels to facilitate use in policy making at these levels. Data for up to ten years are included where possible so that significant trends can be identified.

These charts depict the General Organization, the Administrative Organization, and the Academic Organization at the University of Texas at Austin at the time of the official publication of the Handbook.

As in previous years, we are including a brief summary of some of the more significant trends shown in the Handbook tables. We hope this will serve as a starting point for further analyses by Handbook users.

Data on student characteristics are provided, including ethnicity, gender, age, residency, and major. In addition, application, admission, and enrollment data are presented, along with SAT and National Merit figures. Student flow data are part of this section. Data on first-time students are presented in two different ways: a) for the fall only entering cohort, and b) for students starting in the summer and continuing in the fall, as well as new fall entrants. Detailed information on enrollment by major is also presented.

This section provides data on semester credit hours produced by semester, college, academic area, and level. In addition, Fall student FTEs and average courseloads are presented. Undergraduate instructional patterns are also given.

Data on faculty include FTE counts, average salaries, percent tenured, and counts by rank, gender, college, and ethnicity. Student/faculty ratios are presented, along with faculty/staff headcount by job category, ethnicity, and gender.

Degree information included consists of a listing of degree programs and current year degrees granted by college, level, ethnicity, and gender. Six-year's worth of degree data are presented by college, area of study, level, and gender.

Finance data in the Statistical Handbook 2000-2001 include budgeted Educational and General funds, the Instruction Budget, and data on contracts and grants awarded.
