Strategy: Alternative Mode Support Strategies  - Facility and Systems Improvements
Policy Action: Park & Ride Lots
Definition:

People drive to the Park & Ride lot in the morning, park their car and transfer to a transit to get to work. Park & Ride lots are not restricted to car to transit transfers - they also serve as meeting points for carpools and vanpools and accommodate walk-in or bike-in trips. Lots such as this function more as transit hubs. With the addition of services such as daycare, banks, or markets, Park & Ride lots can free users from the need to make additional errand trips before or after work. Texas Applications

City of Austin currently has 14 park and ride lots and intends to add 6 more in the future as part of the Capitol Metro’s All-Systems-Go program. http://allsystemsgo.capmetro.org/park-rides.shtml, http://www.capmetro.org/riding/park_n_ride.asp

Capital Metro Park & Ride — “Choose a Park & Ride location that offers you a convenient, secure place to park your car while we take you to work on an Express bus. If you're driving downtown anyway, we have two 'Dillo Park & Ride locations that let you save stress and parking fees by taking the 'Dillo.”
