Policy Action: Transportation Enhancements Program
Definition:

The Federal Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21) provides funds for transportation-related enhancements. Projects may include bicycle and pedestrian facilities, safety and educational activities for pedestrians and cyclists, acquisition of scenic easements and historic sites, scenic or historic highway programs, preservation of abandoned railway corridors, and so on. Texas Applications

City of Houston. The federal fund for the city of Houston’s Houston Bikeway Program comes from the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program whereas the local funds are obtained from City of Houston, and METRO. The Houston Bikeway Program completed the Memorial Park Trail in April 2001 and the Holly Hall Trail in September 2003. The Program plans to bring an additional 65 miles of trails into construction beginning in 2005.
