DRI requires review of development projects that are of sufficient size to have an impact beyond a local jurisdiction. Review is designed to improve communication among governments on large-scale developments and to provide a means of identifying and assessing potential development impacts before related conflicts arise. Since DRI review processes provide a mechanism for communication on regional land use issues, the DRI process acts as a tool for regional growth management. Case/Example: DRI process of Florida.
