On behalf of the Dallas Urban Laboratory and the School of Architecture at The University of Texas at Austin, I would like to thank the many sponsors, alumni and committed individuals who participated in the symposium and otherwise contributed to making Envisioning Dallas such a remarkable success. The Dallas Urban Laboratory is now poised to build upon this spirit of participation and hope for the future development of Dallas's quality of life.
Dean J. Almy III, Director, The Dallas Urban Laboratory

As part of one of the fastest growing regional metropolises in North America, Dallas can expect its population to double over the next few decades. The resulting demand on resources will generate significant developmental pressure and increased demands upon the urban and environmental infrastructure of the city.

Envisioning Dallas: From Triangle to Trinity brought together a diverse group of experts, community leaders and stakeholders to explore the critical issues underlying the future growth of Dallas. By envisioning the potential of the future urban landscape to contribute to the social, economic and environmental wellbeing of its citizens, the symposium developed the groundwork for longer-term investigations by promoting cross-disciplinary dialogue and bringing a range of perspectives - local, regional, national/international - to fundamental issues of transportation, open space and livability of concern to Dallas.

Proceeds from this event support the establishment of the Dallas Urban Laboratory, an exciting, new UT Austin project that will bring UT Austin's world class faculty and students to Dallas each year to work on large scale urban issues.
