ATI Wireless Launches, Brings Wireless Industry Expertise to Early Stage Ventures ATI Delivers on Plan to Focus on Strategic Sectors with Debut of Latest Industry Specific Business Accelerator Austin, TX – Sept. 23, 2005 – ATI, the non-profit business accelerator committed to advancing technology initiatives under the guidance of the IC2 Institute and The University of Texas at Austin, today announced a new sector-specific division, ATI Wireless. ATI Wireless supports the organization’s strategy to provide tailored industry resources which help its member companies more quickly achieve commercial success in their respective fields in the United States and around the globe. Erin Defossé, acting director of ATI and now director of ATI Wireless, was the driving force behind ATI Wireless’ formation and ATI’s new sector-focused strategy. “Austin is an incubator in its own right. The entrepreneurial spirit here flourishes in an environment rich in talent and resources such as legal expertise and venture capital. Today, Austin start-ups have those bases covered so ATI is taking its services to the next level by focusing energy and resources on key industry sectors like wireless. With ATI Wireless, we are gathering real-world experts, engaging our network of business contacts and providing deep domain knowledge to member companies to accelerate their success in this industry which is experiencing phenomenal growth around the world.” Austin has an emerging wireless sector that is rich in assets including investment capital, a talented labor pool, and a supportive civic and community infrastructure as evidenced by the Austin Wireless Future analysis conducted by ATI and the IC2 Institute. ATI today announced an advisory board and technical guidance team packed with wireless expertise that will be dedicated to ATI Wireless member companies. ATI also announced that that Nokia Innovent will have a key representative on the advisory board. ATI has assisted over 150 companies that combined have created over 10,000 indirect jobs, raised over $720M in capital, and generated over $1.5B in revenue. Four of these reached the public markets. ATI will continue to attract top talent and generate successful businesses that create jobs and revenue for the city of Austin and the technology community.
