Account Creation and Control
Frequently Asked Questions
I sent in a new budget group request. What is the account number?
ACC reviews and processes new budget group requests once a week.
To find out if your budget group was created, go to GG5 for the unit code and
enter a “b” next to the unit code. This will list all budget groups assigned to that unit.
How can I have a new budget group created?
To request that a new budget group be created, fill out the appropriate form
available on the Account Creation and Control
New Budget Group Creation page.
All requests should be approved by the Dean's Office and then sent to
Mary Knight, Associate V.P. and Budget Director, for E&G Accounts or to
Victoria A. Rieger, Office of Accounting, for non E&G Accounts.
After the new budget group has been assigned,
*TXMAIL messages are automatically sent to the unit head and to
the electronic office manager for the unit code.
How can I have a new subaccount created in an existing budget group?
How can I have a new unit code assigned to a budget group?
Please send all such requests to Account Creation and Control at
the following e-mail address:
oa.acc@austin.utexas.edu.
In order to deactivate a sub-account, all expenses, encumbrances, investments,
and free balances must be cleared or moved before the sub-account can be inactivated.
How can I have signature authorizations on an account updated?
Signature Authorization is updated using the Signature Authorization Request form.
The request must be signed by the unit head, or a unit head in the hierarchy shown on the GG6 screen for the unit.
How can I have a unit code created or changed?
If you need to have the administrator or title of a unit changed, use the Unit Code Update Request form. Unit codes created to house research funds are now created through the Research Management Program in the Office of Sponsored Projects. If you need to create
a new unit for other reasons contact the Office of Accounting Signature Desk. If you would like to have
a unit currently assigned to one unit assigned to another, contact Account Creation and Control.
