13.2.1. SALARY AND WAGES
Salaries and wages are compensation paid to employees for services provided to The University of Texas at Austin. These payments are paid through Payroll Services and are reportable compensation included on Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Form W-2.
A. Salary
Salary payments are fixed compensation amounts paid for services provided to the university by regular employees who are assigned to monthly positions. Salaried employees are paid on a monthly basis.
B. Wages
Wages include compensation paid to regular hourly employees for services provided to the university; other payroll compensation, such as overtime and shift differential; and payments to casual employees.
