13.2.3. PAY FREQUENCY

Payroll Services processes three payrolls per month, resulting in one monthly and two semi-monthly paydays. Paydays are listed on the Payroll Services website.

A. Monthly Paydays

Salaries of employees assigned to monthly positions are paid on the first business day of the month for services provided in the previous month.

B. Semi-Monthly Paydays

For semi-monthly paydays, the first pay period begins on the first day of the month and ends on the fifteenth day of the month, and the second pay period begins on the sixteenth day of the month and ends on the last day of the month. Paydays typically occur five business days after the pay period ends. Several types of payments occur on semi-monthly paydays, such as:

  • payments to hourly employees for pay periods worked
  • casual employee payments
  • other unencumbered payments, such as overtime, shift differential, and Communication Device Allowance (CDA) payments
  • certain monthly employee salaries that are not paid on a monthly payday
