A. Introduction
The Handbook of Business Procedures contains the fiscal policies and
procedures for Financial Affairs. The Handbook is designed to
provide information and guidance to departments regarding the appropriate
handling of financial matters.
This page describes how the Handbook is organized and provides tips for
using it.
Note: Headings and titles that are not linked indicate policies
that have yet to be documented.
The Handbook is maintained by the Office of Accounting. If you need
assistance finding information, or have suggestions for improvement,
please send an e-mail to
oa.askme@austin.utexas.edu, and a member of the Handbook Team will respond to you.
B. Structure of the Handbook
The Handbook of Business Procedures is organized into several broad topic
areas, called Parts. See the compressed Table of
Contents for the complete list of topic areas without subheadings. The expanded
Table of Contents lists the broad topic headings as well as the subheadings
for each part.
The upper section of the navigation bar on the left side of each Handbook
page contains links for quick access to the Handbook's Search feature,
Table of Contents, Frequently Asked Questions, pages with links to business forms,
user guides that explain how to use The University's financial systems, and alphabetical listings of Handbook resources, terminology, and index
topics.
The middle section of the navigation bar contains a link to this Help page. The Ask Me! link allows you to send an email to the Handbook
Team if you cannot find what you are looking for or if you would like
to offer feedback or suggestions about the Handbook.
The lower section of the navigation bar contains links to other related
policies, such as the University
of Texas Handbook of Operating Procedures, University of Texas System
Business Procedures Manual, University of Texas Regents' Rules, and
related offices in Financial Affairs.
Handbook pages that detail procedures have links to the previous and
next sections, as well as links to the tables of contents for the Parts
of the Handbook in which they are located. Some pages link to pages outside
of the Handbook, such as the Office of Accounting web page. Click the Back
button in your web browser to return to the previous page.

text you want to find in the text box, and click the Find Next button.

or will be contained in the Handbook. If a topic is available in the Handbook,
the index listing will provide a link to the appropriate page.
Headings and titles that are not linked indicate policies or procedures
that have yet to be documented.
