Mileage Rate Changes Effective July 1, 2008

On June 24, 2008, the Texas State Comptroller's Office announced an increase in the state mileage reimbursement rate, effective July 1 through Dec. 31, 2008, to 58.5 cents per mile, up from the previous reimbursement rate of 50.5 cents per mile.

You may view this announcement on the state of Texas' Web site, https://fmx.cpa.state.tx.us/fm/travel/milerate/index.php.

The University of Texas at Austin will match the state and increase mileage reimbursement rates to 58.5 cents per mile, up from 50.5 cents per mile, for all business travel in personally-owned automobiles occurring on July 1 through Dec. 31, 2008.

Mileage conversion rates will automatically be calculated based on travel dates. The new rates for travel will be reflected in all VP5 travel payment vouchers created on or after July 1, 2008 for travel occurring on or after that date. Mileage reimbursements for travel dates prior to July 1 will be made at the rates in effect prior to that date.
