Happy New (Fiscal) Year!
The 2006-2007 fiscal year has ended! Here are some things to be aware of
as the new fiscal year starts:
- Notice what year is reflected in your *DEFINE command line! At this time
of year, you may be going back and forth between the old fiscal year
and the new fiscal year. This is done by changing the year in your
command line. If you have trouble viewing information or performing
a particular task, check the year you're in. This may help you
solve your problem.
- When you first enter *DEFINE, the year will default to the current fiscal year (07-08). You can change this default by using
the YP1 command. Press F6 within *DEFINE command YP1 for instructions on using
this command.
CAUTION! If you change the default to the old
fiscal year, it may cause some confusion when you are looking for
information in the new fiscal year. Remember to check the year in the command line if you have trouble using the system.
- See http://www.utexas.edu/business/accounting/classes/pn535.html for information about fiscal year-end procedures. The Fiscal Year-End Process class handouts and slideshow presentation are available.
- See http://www.utexas.edu/business/accounting/news/fye0607.html for information about document processing deadlines and frequently asked questions related to fiscal year-end.
Tip: Instructions on converting a document to the new fiscal year.
- Watch the Good Morning Screen in *DEFINE for announcements regarding year end
processing! You may see What's New Windows, too. If you don't have
time to read them when you first see them, print them out so
you can read them later!
If you have questions or problems, read the articles suggested above, or
call the Office of Accounting Helpline at 471-8802 or by e-mail at oa.askme@austin.utexas.edu for help.
