eBilling for Tuition and Emergency Cash Loans

Effective March, 2006, all students are billed electronically for emergency cash loans and tuition loans. eBilling offers several benefits to students:

  • eBilling is immediate. Electronic bills are delivered more quickly than bills sent via postal mail, and electronic payments are posted immediately to your account—no more relying on postal delivery service or manual input of payments into the system.
  • The bill can be easily forwarded to the paying party if it is someone other than you.
  • Secure payments can be made from any computer with internet access, anytime, anywhere.

How do I get an eBill?
Every student who has an emergency cash or tuition loan will receive an eBill Notification at the e-mail address on his or her student record. When requesting a loan on-line, you will be prompted to verify your current email address. For corrections, a link to the UT Direct web site will be provided. You may also update your Directory Information using ROSE.

How is payment made under eBilling?
Your official eBill will include a link to the appropriate web site to make an electronic payment: My Tuition Bill for tuition loans or What I Owe for emergency cash loans. From this site, you may pay with eCheck, Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), or credit card.

Is a convenience fee assessed to all online payment options?
No. eCheck and EFT are free services. Payment by credit card for tuition loans is subject to a 1.75% convenience fee. There is no fee charged for payments to emergency cash loans.

Is paying online secure?
Yes. You must log into UT Direct with your UT EID and password to view and pay your bill. UT Direct is a secured server and all information and payments made through this site are securely protected.

Can my parents pay for me online?
Yes. Using the eProxy system, you can authorize others to make a payment on your behalf using their own UT EID and password. More information on setting up and utilizing eProxy is available at http://www.utexas.edu/student/eproxy.

When are the electronic bills sent?
eBill Notifications are sent on the due date of your loan. Also, you will receive eBill notifications each month after the due date until the loan is paid in full.

What if the electronic bill gets sent to an old e-mail account?
As stipulated in the University Electronic Mail Student Notification Policy, it is the responsibility of every student to keep the University informed of changes in e-mail addresses. Bounced back e-mail is not an acceptable excuse for missed communication. Regardless of whether or not your eBill is successfully received, you are still responsible for timely payment of your tuition bill. The due date is on the promissory note you sign at the time you obtain your loan.

What if my e-mail in-box is full?
The University Electronic Mail Student Notification Policy maintains that undeliverable messages returned because of either a full inbox or use of a spam filter will still be considered delivered. Regardless of whether or not your eBill is successfully received, you are still responsible for timely payment of your tuition bill.
